Gerhardt Wagner, M.D, Ph.D. is an ABPN board-certified psychiatrist who has two decades of experience in the field. Following completion of his Bachelor of Arts and Science from Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota, Dr. Wagner earned his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Immunology and Virology at the University of California-Davis where he was a primary author of numerous publications including novel therapeutic strategies for combating HIV infection. After his four-year doctorate program, Dr. Wagner attended Creighton Medical School in Omaha, Nebraska, before doing his residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in North Carolina where he was elected chief resident by his peers. During his residency at Wake Forest, Dr. Wagner published numerous articles on electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) as well as the negative impact depression has on cognitive functioning. Dr. Wagner has had over 500 hours of supervised therapy. Dr. Wagner is also on the medical school faculty at the University of Rochester Medical School where he teaches the medical students.
