Pauline N. Stahlbrodt, PhD, LMFT

I am Dr. Pauline Stahlbrodt, a licensed psychologist and marriage and family therapist. I have been providing therapy for over 20 years in both California and New York State. I have more than 20 years of experience providing therapy services to individuals, couples, families and children in private practice and community mental health settings.

My mission is to help you explore the reasons that lead you to seek therapy and together we will identify goals that are aligned with your values and beliefs. I work to create an environment that is safe, respectful, and non-judgmental so that you can begin to identify your strengths as well as challenge your fears. I will offer you my observations and suggestions and I strongly encourage you to develop your own solutions to your problems as I find this to be the most useful. Through the course of therapy you will develop the insight and skills needed to achieve your goals so that you can continue the journey of personal growth long after therapy is complete.

My orientation is a combination of Gestalt and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I believe the more we are able to be present in the here-and-now the more we are able to reduce the experiences of anxiety and depression. Understanding our worldview and the beliefs we hold helps to create choices. This increased self-awareness, and ability to identify and challenge patterns of behavior leads to the development of healthier responses to the stress and challenges in our lives so that we can live a more fulfilling and satisfying life.

When working with children, I often incorporate sand tray and play therapy along with mindfulness and CBT interventions. Expressive Arts therapy is another tool I use in treatment for both children and adults.
